Have you ever wondered what type of aircraft is flying above you? You can scan the sky or let the app auto-detect flights using audio recognition. Once detected, it will show live flight data such as aircraft model, flight path, altitude and speed.
PlaneAboveMe uses iPhone’s mic to sense the presence of aircraft sounds. Once detected, it calls flight data APIs and reads out the flight details, show photos of that particular aircraft above you, along with its current flight path on a map. In addition, you can search by location or flight number. If you enjoy aviation, or just curious about what's flying above you, you may find this useful. Free.
I love airplanes and love seeing planes above me - that's cool that it can sense sounds! Can't wait to try this out.
Doesn't Flyradar24 already solve this problem?
Cool, which flight data API are you using?
Always thinking about this…. Thank you!
Categories come from the product's launch tags. Most products appear in 2-3 categories. The primary category is listed first.
The scores reflect launch-period engagement. Historical data is preserved and doesn't change retroactively. The build date at the bottom shows when the index was last refreshed.
Check the similar products section on this page, or browse the category pages linked in the tags above. Each category page shows all products for a given year, sorted by engagement.
A measure of community engagement at launch. Higher means more people noticed and interacted with the product. It's a traction signal, not a quality rating.
