A product that pulled 500 interest in 2022 faced a different competitive landscape than one pulling 500 in 2026. The bar rises every year as more products enter every category. Compare products within their year cohort, not across years.
Engagement ratios are more stable across time periods. A 0.40 engagement ratio meant the same thing in 2022 as it does now: people cared enough to discuss it at length.
Launch-day attention. It's a popularity signal, not a quality score. A product with 2,000 interest might be worse than one with 400. The number tells you who showed up, not who stayed.
