I really enjoy the minimalistic design, and I have to say, the pop-up message "We don't give up on you" really worked with me. It actually made me write a few lines instead of giving up. Nice job on the copy! I also tried it on the iPad and I wonder if there is a way to write with the Apple Pen and keep the handwriting without it being re-written?
